History

The name “Parman” has been synonymous with petroleum products in Middle Tennessee since the mid-1930s.

Originally located in downtown Nashville, the family-owned Parman Oil Company was founded by Bates Parman. Parman originally provided petroleum products to service stations in the Nashville area. The business grew and prospered for more than five decades, building a solid reputation for quality products and dedicated service. In 1978, the Parman Oil Company was acquired by Don Crichton, Johnny Jewell and Jimmy Jewell, who continued to focus on growth in the service station and convenience store segments. The leadership team invested further in the growth potential of the lubricants business in 1986 by acquiring Southern Oil Company, a large Nashville-based Quaker State, Castrol, and Chevron marketer. This acquisition necessitated a move in 1986 to our current state-of-the-art facility in West Nashville.
Parman’s growth throughout the 1980s, in both the lubricant and the convenience store businesses, led to the creation of a lubricant-focused company named Parman Lubricants Corporation, immediately changing the petroleum industry landscape in the Midsouth. Parman experienced further growth throughout the 90s and continued to expand through strategic acquisitions. One of these acquisitions being the Williams Lubrication Equipment Sales & Service Company, the leading lubrication equipment sales and service business in Middle Tennessee since the mid-1950s.

At the turn of the century, Parman Lubricants realized exponential growth from significant commercial and industrial fuel customers, as well as lubricant customers, and established Parman Lubricants as a fully integrated market supplier of fuels, lubricants, and lubricant dispensing equipment over a broad marketing area. This lead to the establishment of their Chattanooga facility, which would act as a Parman supply point for markets in Eastern Tennessee, Northern Alabama, and Northern Georgia. In 2007, Parman continued to grow in this new market by integrating fuel supply as a line of business, successfully establishing themselves as the high-quality option for customer’s in the surrounding Chattanooga areas.

Parman continued to expand, including the purchase of additional warehouse space allowing for significantly larger volume purchases and storage to ensure our customers an uninterrupted supply through unseen market disruptions. Expansion continued into Western Tennessee, affording a supply point for both bulk and package lubricants, as well as significant fuel storage in the west and northwest Tennessee area.

In June 2009, Parman Lubricants became Parman Energy to emphasize our diverse petroleum product offering, particularly as it relates to our increased emphasis on fuel supply. While Parman Energy remains one of the largest Chevron Lubricants marketers in the world, and annually ranks as a Chevron 1st Source Elite marketer, our commercial and industrial fuel, DEF and equipment divisions also dominate the Southeast.

In February 2015, Parman Energy became an employee-owned company. This change empowers employees like never before, offering a true sense of ownership and responsibility to every member of the team.

In 2018 Parman Energy changed its name to Parman Energy Group.

Our latest expansion moved Parman Energy into the Great North.  Our additional of facilities and personnel into the St. Cloud and Minneapolis markets in Minnesota provides us with a platform to extend Parman’s commitment to Totally Outrageous Customer Service (TOCS) to a dynamic and growing market.

We look forward to future growth and thank our many loyal customers for making this possible. We remain committed to partnering with our customers and suppliers to sustain a future that is as dynamic as our past.
